Tested positive on one of those lateral flow tests. Somehow got the test line DARKER than the control line. How the hell does that even happen? Does that mean I have super covid or something?

No one else cares, not the government or my university. See comments: https://teddit.net/r/UBC/comments/xfewx3/is_ubc_doing_any_covid_monitoring_or_support/

Got three Pfizers as soon as i was eligible, for all the good that did. I’m now a data point on that ongoing scandal that Pfizer boosters don’t do shit.

This is day two of symptoms (started yesterday night) and HOLY SHIT! I am literally disoriented and dizzy and my head hurts like I slammed it into a wall. Actually, the best way to describe it is I feel really, really drunk/hungover right now, like it’s actually affecting my ability to think and type this post. I’m honestly shocked by how fast it escalated, it started with a sore throat last night, and last afternoon I felt completely fine. I’ve had the flu before, this is so much worse. Fuck everything about this. I live with my somewhat elderly parents and very elderly grandparents and I’m genuinely worried for their safety. Not to mention the slew of people I infected before symptoms got bad enough that I decided to test. I thought I just had a cold/flu at first because I wasn’t coughing, but yeah, no.

I started getting the sore throat while i was out doing stuff last night. I took transit also doing stuff today because I didn’t think I had covid since I wasn’t coughing and didn’t have trouble breathing, still not really coughing or trouble breathing actually. Fuck. FuckFuckFuckFuck. I hope I don’t end up killing someone.

The vaccines do not prevent transmission, like at all. They do help with severity and a recent study showed that fully vaccinated people have a 16-17% chance of developing long covid while unvaxxed is like 30%. https://www.chicagomag.com/chicago-magazine/october-2022/the-long-haul/

The main thing I have read is that to avoid long covid it is really important to do almost nothing while you have it. Like get groceries delivered and lay in bed as much as possible. Your body is fighting. That way you limit the damage being done to your lungs and brain.

Welcome to the victims of capitalism in yet one more way comrade.

Just wear an n95 mask while outside of your bedroom (and they should as well) to keep your family safe. If you can afford it, purchase a HEPA air filter like this one

Also, to not be a debbie downer - China and Cuba and the US actually seem to all be making ground on a sterilizing vaccine to prevent transmission (intranasal and other forms).
