In the future, sooner than most realise, fruit will become scarce. So will most vegetables and nuts. It’s because there will be no wild pollinators on agricultural land due to overuse of chemicals.
Cereals will be even more abundant than now. So will grass-fed meats.
I see this as an upcoming crisis that is being neglected. How is man to survive? Will it be easier or harder to be vegan in the next few decades as agriculture goes through this revolution?
BTW I’d rather put this sort of post in a debate-veganism type of forum. It could be curated over time into a kind of FAQ. Would someone knowledgeable be interested in starting one?
There are almost 8 billion humans on this planet. There will be always pollinators as long as there are so many humans.
It’s already a normal job in China to pollinate trees by hand and as long as the planet is flooded by humans, every human pollinator is replaceable by another human.
It’s a pity that humans will kill a lot of species until this “job” becomes normal and even then they will not even bat an eye and keep destroying stuff (instead of learning of their mistakes).
That’s how our species is (and I don’t think most people will change the next years to take the last chance to avoid the worst).
A lot will change in the future and the planet will not look like we know it today, but humans will grow whatever they like the most, even if it’s Mangos in cold countries.
