We block it for being a straight on propaganda outfit for authoritarian regimes.

Which fits the definition of “nasty people” in my book!

The OP is on-point. It’s not about the particular ideological tinge, it’s about the caustic experience of interfacing with them.

Also, I’d add forcing to impose alt history without credible evidences. They’re also… difficult and too angry in conversations.

LOL, you don’t have to put as having a particularly different opinion, boils down to pretty much the same thing. On the other hand it is explicitly illegal in Poland to praise authoritarian communism (and fascism/nazism), so there’s that as well. I can live with people being assholes, but if they support oppressive regimes and can bring you legal problems for how federation works on a technical level it’s a bit to much to ask.
With lemmy.ml there is some users/communities that I might particularly dislike, but it’s not like it’s the sole purpose of it’s existence, there’s also decent content that we repost and have respect for lemmy devs.

I think there’s a diverse group of people there, but I think the way their community is currently run they have strong ideals of free speech. Many of their users seem to me people who are justifiably incredibly angry at the state of affairs in the world, but don’t know how to channel that anger effectively. The other day I was accused of being a liberal because I didn’t chastise someone with strong enough language, so they made some assumptions about my background and beliefs.

Lemmygrad was a communist instance with a nice community before genzedong left reddit. I would look at the new posts every day and the community was friendly. Lately I view Lemmy much less than I had been back then. I definitely feel like lemmygrad has become hostile.

I’ve very recently started using the user blocklist in the lemmy settings to remove a couple users from my feed who I feel are obnoxious/overly confrontational. I feel like this has actually been a lot more helpful than I was expecting, but it’s only been a few days.

Tell me you are a Western “Marxist” without telling me you are a Western “Marxist”.

Imaging being so ignorant about Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and of Marx’s ideas that you can’t tell apart a socialist state integrated into the global market from a capitalist hellhole. What next, Cuba is not socialist and it’s an authoritarian regime. Speak with a real proletarian from the Global South and learn a bit about who’s friend with whom.

              https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1888/free-trade/

Here, when Marx supports free trade, he does it because of the natural contradictions in capitalist society. What free trade allows, is that countries in the first world will happily accept your cheap work force and provide certain degrees of amicability towards you, which at the same time creates a process of deindustrialisation in first world countries because most of manufacturing is driven towards this third world nations. You can see this is the tactic China adopted and which has succeeded, the West nowadays is largely dependent on third world countries to fulfill its needs, either be it from India, China, Russia or Latin America, this relation of dependence is what makes it harder for other countries to invade you or excerpt blockades, and which also help to form relations with other countries in similar scenarios, as BRICS is an example. I’m not saying Marx predicted all of this because in that case he would have magic powers, but there is no other way to interpret the support for free trade, understanding it in the sense of liberal economics, under a Marxist lenses. It’s essentially using capitalist tools and understanding the nature of capitalism, to accelerate its downfall.
