He made a lot of money for himself and his friends. And all it cost was the future of America. There were plenty of issues before him, but this was a huge tipping point. For those who don’t understand the 70%. If I recall correctly that was the tax rate of the rich.

I don’t care who it was the tax rate for, a 70% tax rate is stupid. Takes any incentive for working beyond a certain point out which stifles innovation and is the death of a growing and cutting edge society.

Yeah, what would we ever do without today’s billionaires? I can’t imagine a world without guys like Elon Musk spending their endless money on controlling narratives on social media instead of contributing a much larger share to social programs and infrastructure. He’s always finding ways to innovatively call people pedos, and without that, we’d be much worse off as a society.

I fully understand tax brackets. I’m an Executive Director over a multi million dollar organization and core member of the financial and accounting teams, responsible for auditing income statements and the like. I also own a private business and do all the accounting and payroll myself.

The real problem here is, I’m a proud capitalist, and seem to have wandered into communist and/or socialist lemmy communities on accident because this post showed up on my home feed for some unknown reason. Pardon my making sense. I’ll see myself out.
