On one hand, I agree with you. On the other hand, now that Obsidian and Bethesda are part of the same company, this might mean that we might get another proper Fallout game by Obsidian.

Also, I seem to recall there being some bad blood between Carmack and Bethesda. The acquisition might fix that, which would enable Carmack to come back to develop iD games like Quake and Doom. Time will tell.

Additionally, Bethesda has been fucking up pretty hard for the past few years. A change of leadership was sorely needed.
