Sure, it’s not exactly great that he seems to get views for this sort of obscenity. However, the system rewards many types of videos encompassing a wide berth of topics and styles.

The exploitation is being done by YouTube. The audience is also being exploited. Take a look at the people who make billions, not the content creators who, on average, make pennies.
YouTube’s algorithm is designed to hook you in so you never stop watching. Viewers are definitely “exploited”.
I disagree with the title in general, but in this specific case I would agree that the audience are partially to blame (in addition to his own mental issues) for this result. It’s very sad to see
