    Engagement is engagement, whether people are engaged through anger or love.

    Engagement is the only metric these types of media sources care about.

      engagement with what, exactly?

      the signal which carries no message is white noise.

      meaningless engagement is distraction, wasted bandwidth.

      an emoji is not a meaningful improvement to the material condition of the working class, or a threat to the status quo. It’s not even relevant to the abolition of work.

        You’re responding as if they’ve expressed any sort of opinion on that but it’s just facts. It’s just a fact of the state of “journalism” and how online content works now. Higher engagement means more reach, it’s just SEO/marketing shit. These companies aren’t doing it for the betterment of society.
