True, there’s no other platform as accessible as Discord. I’m a big Matrix fan and I hope we will see it approach Discord soon in terms of features and stability. It might be hard to get your people to use Riot especially if it’s a wide audience and your chat is not going to be centered on a tech topic. I hope the free software discourse will continue to grow in the internet left as much as it has been doing in the past few years

Yeah but in another way that means that a lot may not care as much for open source or federation and that this may introduce thousands to that idea
