The Mona Lisa is protected by a bulletproof glass. no chance to damage the picture, it is even forbidden to photograph it with a flash, the flashlight from the thousends of visitors can degrade the painting. In the Louvre they sell reproductions in HD of all the paintings they exhibit, at least when I was there a few years ago.
