Your mistake is trying to think of Christianity logically
Christianity is build around guilt and penance. So of course the main christian religious figure would be in helluva of suffering too.
And anyone trying to stop the suffering is eeevil~. I seriously don’t know why they thought it would portray bolsheviks in a bad light.
