Abusing his workers to the point of giving them seizures and exposing them to dangerous chemicals? Just a small sacrifice to push us all into the future

Hanging out with Ghislaine/Epstein? Whatever, all the famous people did

SA of a flight attendant? No big deal, she’s probably lying for attention

Disowning his trans daughter? To each their own, we don’t know what happened behind closed doors

Being hilariously bad at Path of Exile 2? Ok now that’s a step too far.

What’s the Futurama bit where a man creates a robot to do his job, love his wife and raise his kid? And when his robot gets the award for lifetime achievement and his son starts calling the robot dad, he has the robot experience his feelings of tragic irony for him?

That, except Elon can’t program a robot if his life depended on it.

      • my guess is, in his mind, being great at vibeo gamez is part of his self-styled mythos. he can’t allow himself to be perceived as normal at any of the “big brain” stuff, because it would jeopardize belief in his meritocratic rise.

he’s got to be preternaturally epic at everything regarded as important by his tech douche mileu. reading, math, physics, code, gamering, sexual conquest/relationships, reproduction, operational management, etc etc.

the whole “real life Tony Stark” thing is crazy instructive about his psyche. a lot of naive people bought that manufactured narrative and are pretty shocked to uncover how bullshit it is.

He’s propped up heavily by an implicit belief in the great man theory. That and he’s probably a narcissist and has a huge ego as the result of growing up so privileged and being surrounded by sycophants so he can never show humility except in a bragging sort of way

          • Not to be a vulgar materialist about it, but cultivating this super genius inventor image also makes him a lot of money. The brand and the stock price of his companies are tied directly to how much people believe he’s directly involved in running them, and how much people think he’s “actually super smart you guys, I swear he’s like Tony Stark but irl”.

If people dunk on Elon for being a reactionary asshole with shit opinions, it barely affects the market. If Elon is somewhat outed not to be the savant he claims to be, the companies he has tied to his myth would suffer for it.

Tesla raised $7 billion from investors in 2019 on the premise of having “one million robotaxis on the road by the end of 2020”, this also pushed up their stock price. Of course, there were no robotaxis. And the Tesla stock price is even higher than it was when the robotaxis were promised.

Instead, Elon cultists are upset at Elon for lying about gaming. I guess they figured that the robotaxis and other lies are a scam that is in their favor, while Elon being good at gaming isn’t a scam in their favor?

The problem is a ton of people aren’t ever exposed to that kind of news in the first place. Like yeah, we’re all abundantly aware of the seemingly endless ways Musk is a piece of shit, but that’s because we’re all terminally online leftists who care enough to find a random Twitter thread linking a small journal post detailing how he used Boring to mulch orphans or whatever while the media that 99% of the population is exposed to will never once even hint at it.

As a software engineer, it still blows my mind that any software people take him seriously at all after the way he handled Twitter. He literally asked programmers to print out the code they’d written in the last 6 months so he could fire whoever wrote the fewest lines.

Dude has no fucking clue how any of it works.

America being terminally car-brained didn’t help him when he unveiled the cybertruck and it looked like shit and then video emerged of it performing like shit. Lots of comments like “lol my 23 year old Honda sedan could go up that incline.”

It’s easier to be the Prince of Le Science when people aren’t in a rocket for an hour long commute every day. Cars? Everybody is in a car. Make a shitty car? Everyone can see it fail and understand the how and the why.

It’s funny that he’s unironically making good points (“if he lies at something this trivial, then how can we trust him on other things he says?”) but it’s just like, dog, this is what made you realize that Elon might be a dishonest person?

Elon made the mistake of lying about something “normal people” understand.

Elon: “Blah blah, jobs, billions, blah blah government!”

People: Sounds like BS, but IDK…

Elon: “I’m the GOAT at PoE2!”

      People: Absolutely the fuck not!

I know a few people who are or used to be fully in the Elon love train, or at least thought the guy was technically capable, and admired him for being “a different kind of tech founder” or an engineer in charge of a company that makes cutting edge stuff, instead of the suits who run all the other companies.

I think it’s easy for us (leftists and chronically online) to see him be deranged now and think “how could someone think he is a smart person”, because we already distrust bosses, and see through his reactionary bullshit more easily. BUT, he has spent the better part of 20 years building this myth of him being a genius inventor who builds rockets and electric cars with his own hands. He’s spent a lot of time and money to build it, and it’s very purposeful. To the casual observer who just kind of absorbs the narratives that float around, without paying a lot of a attention, that becomes the default assumption: Elon has paid all these people to make him look good, must be true.

This is way more embarrassing than that, though. At least Lance Armstrong can say “everybody else was too” and be right about it. Elon was claiming to be one of the best in the world in a highly competitive game while barely able to use the basic interface.

    They targeted gamers.

    Gamers.

We’re a group of people who will sit for hours, days, even weeks on end performing some of the hardest, most mentally demanding tasks. Over, and over, and over all for nothing more than a little digital token saying we did.

We’ll punish our selfs doing things others would consider torture, because we think it’s fun.

We’ll spend most if not all of our free time min maxing the stats of a fictional character all to draw out a single extra point of damage per second.

Many of us have made careers out of doing just these things: slogging through the grind, all day, the same quests over and over, hundreds of times to the point where we know evety little detail such that some have attained such gamer nirvana that they can literally play these games blindfolded.

Do these people have any idea how many controllers have been smashed, systems over heated, disks and carts destroyed 8n frustration? All to latter be referred to as bragging rights?

These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our media? We’re already building a new one without them. They take our devs? Gamers aren’t shy about throwing their money else where, or even making the games our selves. They think calling us racist, mysoginistic, rape apologists is going to change us? We’ve been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a shitty head set. They picked a fight against a group that’s already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they’ve threatened us with. Who take it as a challange when they tell us we no longer matter. Our obsession with proving we can after being told we can’t is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic we used to be that proving you people wrong has become a very real need; a honed reflex.

Gamers are competative, hard core, by nature. We love a challange. The worst thing you did in all of this was to challange us. You’re not special, you’re not original, you’re not the first; this is just another boss fight.

I’ve seen some posts (not on hexbear) claiming that Elon was just playing poorly because he was distracted or playing on a laptop. Elon streamed his boosted Hardcore character on January 7. However, I first learned that Elon was paying someone to play for him on December 21.

On December 21, a user on the Path of Exile Reddit posted the following screenshots.

    https://old.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1hjbnw5/elon_musk_streamed_poe_2_from_someone_elses/

(these screenshots are dead links from the reddit post above. if you paste the dead url into your discord client the images still load.)

Screenshot 1 shows a trade message sent to Elon’s character at the time. This is an automated message generated by the Path of Exile website when you click the send message to player button, indicating that Elon’s account language is set to Chinese. Also the screenshot tells us that his stash tab was named to “Sell出售”.

Screenshot 2 shows the player in the hideout of Elon’s character at the time, while also in the same party. In the top right corner of the screenshot, you can see the hideout is hosted on the Hong Kong realm.

I can confirm that this information is true. After I saw the reddit post, I decided to also trade the account. I saw a trade message that was also in Chinese and when I visited their hideout, it was also on the Hong Kong realm. Unfortunately I didn’t save a screenshot of my trade because I had figured that the reddit post was sufficient evidence at the time. Then I made a hexbear post about it on December 22.
