yeah, the guy isn’t just some nobody, he knows what he’s talking about
The problem I have with all of these “realists” making all of these intricate geopolitical analyses about how the conflict is between Russia and NATO - which is true - is that in their attempts to show how smart they are they miss the most obvious which is that the Russians are dead serious about denazification and demilitarization. That is not a smoke screen or a pretext and never has been. The fact that the Donbass has been under attack by literal Nazis since 2014 and was facing a massive NATO trained Ukrainian army that was about to launch a full scale assault that would have at best resulted in a bloodbath if not outright ethnic cleansing was one of the main reasons why Russia chose to intervene when and how they did. No matter what happens between Russia and NATO going forward, even if NATO accepts to never admit Ukraine and to negotiate with Russia in good faith, Russia cannot and will not accept the Nazi regime in Kiev staying in power or maintaining an army that can be used to threaten Russia’s new oblasts in the future.
Russian army backed by a powerful defence industry and a robust economy will not hesitate to confront NATO member countries bordering Ukraine
This reeks of propaganda. The world is aware of an estimated 200,000 dead (I was wrong, according to news sources. The number of VERIFIABLE dead is between 50,000-100,000. The estimated total dead Russians in Ukraine is still roughly 200,000.), and at least $100 million in war related imports from China. Both were on the front page of Lemmy in the last week.
Looks like OP is an astroturfer. Check their post history.
The BBC article you’re referring to puts the number of confirmed dead at over 100,000: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65451487
AP News 50,000: https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-war-military-deaths-facd75c2311ed7be660342698cf6a409
Aljazeera 50,000: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/7/10/new-data-uncovers-50000-russian-deaths-during-the-ukraine-war
Wikipedia 214,000: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Russo-Ukrainian_War
“US intelligence documentation cited the Russian FSB that Russian forces suffered 110,000 casualties by 28 February 2023.”
The Wikipedia article is well sourced. I suggest anyone looking for the truth sift through their 395 citations for the proof. You can downvote all you want. Idgaf about Internet points.
Do you know how we know OP is using a botnet? We can see the same users following him around the site and voting everything he says, even when he’s been definitively proven wrong by 5 news sources. It’s really amazing that he’s still trying to push this nonsense.
To the obvious troll below: if your internet allows you to click those links, you shouldn’t do it on your work computer or they’ll have you in Ukraine with nothing but a suicide grenade or mining salt in the Urals by the end of the day. Slava Ukraini.
Seems like you’re the one spreading propaganda here. The only actual analysis of Russian casualties that I’m aware of was done by BBC in collaboration with Mediazona, and they only managed to come up with soldiers 14,093 killed https://meduza.io/en/news/2023/02/13/mediazona-and-bbc-news-russian-publish-further-figures-on-russia-s-losses-in-ukraine
It’s pretty hilarious how you think that just because something was on a front page of Lemmy last week automatically means it’s factual.
edit: love how the lib chud genuinely believes there’s like a bazillion Russian casualties and getting upset when being called out on it. Best part how every one of his links gives a wildly different number, like they’re just throwing darts at a board. The real genius of western propaganda is that the propagandists know that the public wants to buy what they’re selling so they don’t have to work too hard.
Now the front page of Lemmygrad, maybe.
I can’t believe you’re an astroturfer though! Don’t you know how bad that stuff is for the environment? Granted, it uses less water than a traditional lawn, but insects and small animals can’t build an ecosystem in it. You should try and build a garden with plants native to the region instead, much, much better that way.
😄
Super funny seeing a 10 day old account accuse one of the oldest Lemmy users of being an astroturfer
This is like, the most concentrated reddit r/worldnews shit I think I’ve ever seen here. Only thing it is missing is “thanks for the gold kind stranger.”
ding! Good catch!
Do you even know what astroturfing is? How is one person going to astroturf?
Man, I forgot to add astroturfing to my liberal bingo card!
Hey did you get your monthly Xi bucks yet? I bought a few Xi memorabilia this month and I’m kind of low on money, can’t wait for Xi to pay me more Xi bucks to do some more astroturfing.
That’s right, gotta pay rent somehow!
LMAO Hes using fucking wikpedia as a citation, have you ever been to school? #1 thing they teach is never citate fucking wikipedia
Editing your comment like this is confusing and bad form. You should reply to the comment you’re referring to.
What’s your point about the casualty rate though? Even if your numbers were right, so what? It doesn’t really counter that last point from the article (which I disagree with for other reasons).
No point in allowing discourse with someone spreading disinformation. Troll repellent 101.
