Okay. How many linux users are here? And of linux users, how many are currently wearing thigh high socks?
Does Red Star OS on a vintage setup counts?
oh hell ya. do you actually use it for anything? I have it on a VM but I haven’t really used it
We need to get hold of red star os 4, afaik v3 is really old now
I concur comrade, but it’s still nice despite its obsolescence and limited functionality.
Ya idk how easy that is gonna be. Somebody on here ought to know though
Well we got hold of red star os 3 somehow, so i’m sure its possible
Well afaik it changed in 2017(I think?) after that stupid Amerikkan died over there, their gov freaked out and part of the many sanctions that followed resulted in them not being able to release software anymore. Before that, DPRK actually had a website you could download it from
Oh i had no idea about that bit, thats really sad
brb gonna go to the dprk with a flash drive and take home a copy
Not really for anything, I was about to install Nova on an old IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad but the Juche-Linux experience made me change my decision.
Parabola GNU/Linux-libre user here… No socks, but I’m naked, though
based
Parabola is very based, now i dont use an nvidia gpu i might switch, currently on vanilla arch
Everyone is awesome. Ubuntu 20.04 on my laptop, desktop, and server. Mac OS 9 on my iMac G3. Thigh high socks at all times lol
That sounds nice. Though I would not deny the aesthetic of the early iMacs and iBooks I think the late 90s Powerbooks were the Apple devices closer to be “consumer-friendly” due to the ease of replacing and upgrading parts and the range of options to customize, something few companies nowadays would offer. Curious how that ideology started to die the moment Steve Jobs returned as CEO.
Ya the early iMac was beautiful. I got it as a very young kid in 1999 lol. Wasn’t Steve Jobs gravely obsessed with making their products impossible to repair?
Why yes. Jobs knew that the prior executives which promoted machines easy to upgrade/repair to ensure customer loyalty were doing “bad” business. Nowadays the Jobs approach is one of the cornerstones of modern Apple.
