I would have messaged the mods on the subreddit but it said that messages won’t get through for 72 hours so I made an account here (I have been lurking in the communist subreddits and on this site for a while but didn’t ever comment as I haven’t read enough theory yet)
The comment was deleted by the auto mod but you can see it on my profile https://www.reddit.com/user/ErohaTamaki
The comment was this:
"I am new to communism so I might be a bit wrong, someone correct me if I am wrong
Communism doesn’t mean that entertainment like surfing would disappear, it would actually be the complete opposite. Workers would have more free time as and that means that people would be able to explore hobbies like surfing that they haven’t had the time to explore. There would also be more people willing to do things like surfing as they won’t be scared of getting injured and then being unemployed and left to die"
The first message I got was:
"You have been permanently banned from participating in r/communism. You can still view and subscribe to r/communism, but you won’t be able to post or comment.

The second message:
“You have been temporarily muted from r/communism. You will not be able to message the moderators of r/communism for 72 hours.”
The third message:
"You have been permanently banned from participating in r/communism101. You can still view and subscribe to r/communism101, but you won’t be able to post or comment.

I would like the ban to be removed or at the very least have the ban explained, also does anyone have any recommendations of things to read? I am currently half-way through reading The State and Revolution (I haven’t read anything else)
Update: I got unbanned :)
I was hit in /r/communism for saying that Corbyn was basically a trot participating in electoralism under the guise of a socdem. He consorts with trots, he works with trot papers, he is a trot. He ran as a socdem but is a trot.
Banned.
Told to ask /r/communism101 why I was banned for calling him a trot. I did. Told them, expecting my sincere attempt to be unbanned to be taken seriously. Muted 3 days. Responded again. Muted 3 days. Responded again. Muted 3 days.
They are completely garbage and are uninterested in engaging with anyone in good faith. They have managed to alienate themselves from all the ML communities on the site.

I actually remember seeing your comment. It was highly upvoted and popular.
They are basically binning off everyone that contributes well in their communities, bit by bit. If I recall correctly Parentis Shotgun got banned there too, although he might correct me on that. They have a strange team with completely inflexible attitudes.
i got banned a while ago because I corrected someone on a comment the brazilian economy minister made. IIRC I just said his comment wasn’t as bad as portrayed and that marxist-leninists should strive to be factual as reality is own our side, so there’s no need to strawman or exaggerate what’s happening. never said he or the current administration were good or anything of the sort.
got banned for being a fascist sympathizer when a couple of clicks on my profile would’ve shown that’s not the case lmao
it should’ve been a wake-up call when non-ML meme subs were better at radicalizing people than /r/communism, but i guess they’d rather keep their little “academic” club.
though the sub really is a good learning index for people who are already MLs, i’ll give it that.
I got autobanned from both communism and communism101 for posting an article from Tribune of the People. I think it was just because I was an MTC or CTH poster
That’s interesting. I sort of understand banning CTH posters, but I’m surprised you think MTC would flag a user as reactionary. I think I would only ban nazi or neoliberal posters, I’m saying this as somebody who has never been a mod on a large sub though.
They’re a bunch of banhappy Stalinists
Imagine unironically using the word “Stalinist”… :face with rolling eyes:
Stalin did far more good than bad. Barring that time the Soviets elected a magician to head both Soviet and Chinese agricultural sciences.
I know. I greatly respect Stalin and what he did for our people. But the word “Stalinist” is used mainly by those who want to discredit Marxism-Leninism and/or didn’t properly research that. Especially in comments like the one that I’ve replied this to. There is nothing in Stalin’s theory and practice that says you must ban random users from the /r/communism sub, that comment is just using it as an insult. I haven’t heard an actual ML use the term “Stalinism”, except maybe to annoy some liberals.
