This news mainly concerns Steam Deck users, as the dev team has been packaging it for pretty much every common packaging format out there (Appimage, .deb, .rpm, .pacman and also .exe and .dmg for Windows and Mac users).

Overall a great addition to Linux gaming in general!

Heroic games launcher is wonderful. I use it on Windows not only because it’s open source and all, but because Epic’s official launcher is ASS. It’s an electron app that runs slower than 20 firefox tabs and for some reason takes >1 minute to launch. That thing needs to get nuked if they’re serious about competing against Steam.

Electron. LOL. Now I can’t believe that they are actually triying to compete against steam…

Tbh the steam client also sucks a lot. It looks and behaves weird on a WM plus uses its own notifications for some reason

Right? We tend to overlook a lot of the problems with Steam due to the respect they got with all their efforts into improving Linux in general, but if you look at it it’s pretty clear that the app was made 10 years ago and not improved much when it comes to proper Linux desktop standards ever since.

Just a reminder that HGL is also written in Electron.

It’s just a matter of well written code and UI/UX.
