This is a pretty good map of states that I’d like to avoid. Too bad NH is orange though, New England is so close.

We know. A lot of us are stuck in these shitholes through no fault of our own and are doing our best.

      Yeah. With insecure blokes.

I’m straight (never been gay), but here in Australia these are the same guys who think the car you drive affects whether you’re gay or not.

Which unfortunately means they must keep up with the latest fashionable trends to remain straight and masculine.

The hilarious thing is that the biggest badasses I’ve met (who do rock climbing and high altitude mountaineering) never seem to care about the car they drive. In fact, a lot of their cars would inherently be classed as LGBTIQ. They might even be surprised to know one of the most masculine people I know is gay 😂

Also, they regularly cause issues in my hiking group too… but if you ask them if they want to take over guiding, they never will.

Y’all are all welcome in Australia. The Rock climbing community here is actually very lgbtiq friendly

And it would be great if we could get less toxic people here

Alabama is way worse than Mississippi or Florida in just about every way, they’re just quieter about it.

Even the weather’s worse. I’ve been in actual jungles that were less miserably humid than rural Alabama. And I’m jungles you get cool jungle noises. I’m Alabama you get tractor noises and the worst Lynyrd Skynyrd song on repeat

Hell, the unofficial mottos of Florida and Georgia are “at least we’re not Alabama”.

Florida and Mississippi just get more media coverage cause everyone’s given up on that entire state at this point

Statements by the Biden administration opposing youth gender affirming surgical procedures were mentioned. I have seen commentary elsewhere that this is fairly uncommon. Can someone clear this up?

    • @pingveno @Beaver It depends, there are few surgeries that are being categorized as gender affirming surgery. Some of these surgeries already being performed on cis gendered youth but the same surgery on a Trans youth makes everyone go crazy. Most gender affirming surgeries are not performed on youth and are uncommon. However sometimes there are very extreme cases when there is a life threat to the youth patient and that is why we insist on leaving gender affirming care to professionals, the individual and their parents and Politicians should never make decisions on medical care since they are not experts.

If my this you mean gender affirming surgical procedures for trans kids, no that’s not a thing at all.

However, in rare situations in which an infant has ambiguous genitalia, usually the doctor assigns the infant a gender, sometimes conferring with the parents, and then performs surgery to make them less ambiguous. And yes, sometimes the infant will later, as a child or adult, decide their doctor-assigned gender misrepresents how they feel about themselves. This kind of gender assignment surgery is routine in the United States, and is performed without any question as to its veracity.

A trans person has to be an adult and has to go through RLT (real life training – it may have a different name now) which is years of dressing, behaving and identifying as their transitional gender before doctors will perform reassignment surgery. I believe in the last decade this period of time has been shortened due to studies, but it is difficult to get reassignment surgery as a young adult and impossible as a child except hypothetically through less than legal means.
