    Media outlets who misrepresent experts need to be sued. We need a legal precedent that anyone can sue them over it, not just the person they’re lying about, since it’s harmful to everyone who watches the segment and because the misrepresented person themselves usually don’t have the time or money to do anything. The Free Software Conservancy is trying to establish this exact thing for violations of open source licenses.

      Yeah definitely, I think you could make a good case for libel and defamation. Once a legal precedent was set then propagandists would have to be a lot more careful.
