Edit with the gathered answers:
1-AmbientMusicMod (Android, requires root/ADB wifi)
2-Shazam Lite (unbloated modded Shazam)
Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t Shazam’s usefulness come from its enormous database of fingerprinted music and not the fingerprinting software it uses to create it? I’m sure you could find FOSS that fingerprints music, but it would be useless without a gigantic database to search.
Musicbrainz is such a database, but I am unsure whether it can be used with short snippets of music.
I don’t think they store fingerprints. They only use MBID for metadata.
My bad, I was thinking of AcoustID.
There is an open source Now Playing app for Android, but it does rely on some modded Google APK under the hood. So not fully open source.
Iv tried this now , asks me to install Shizuku, then I’m lost. Went to read about shizuku, got to a part where it asks me to install Magisk. Err feeling out of my depth here
You need root/ADB wifi for that. Your best best imo is Shazam Lite, a modded version of shazam without any unnecessary stuff
Yeah I don’t have root access. Do you know a trusted repo for Shazam Lite? I see some links to usually not trustable websites. Meanwhile I found this, seems like an interesting option https://github.com/joaroque/MelissaSongs
You don’t need root access if you use adb, but then you have to connect your phone to a computer and rerun the adb command every time you reboot your phone.
You don’t need root or magisk to install Shizuku. It can work fine via its wireless debugging mode. Or is it Ambient Music Mod asking for you to install Magisk?
I love SongRec, feels like it can spot out most things instantaneously and even can find obscure songs that use the same sample as a more famous one
Linux, not Android, option to use microphone or desktop audiodeleted by creator
I think there wont really be a good alternative any time soon, because those services need to be trained. You might find some open source shazam client.
Yo, thanks, that bot is cool.
I use Audible from fdroid, it uses musicbrainz database if I recall correctly
Can you link it please? I can’t seem to find it
Sorry it’s my fault, it’s called Audile
