Did these experts cite any relevant data, or we must just believe them?

Peer reviewed paper: Effect of Ivermectin on Time to Resolution of Symptoms Among Adults With Mild COVID-19: A Randomized Clinical Trial It’s from April 2021, the latest clinical trial I could find.

      From the abstract:

Conclusion and Relevance Among adults with mild COVID-19, a 5-day course of ivermectin, compared with placebo, did not significantly improve the time to resolution of symptoms. The findings do not support the use of ivermectin for treatment of mild COVID-19, although larger trials may be needed to understand the effects of ivermectin on other clinically relevant outcomes.

And this was a highly controlled clinical trial under medical supervision. If someone just popped a bottle of the stuff, it will not only not work, it will probably just speed up that whole “dying” thing.

Other studies did show some effect, but again, only in highly controlled doses and still not sufficient to verify medical efficacy. And again, no clinical trial involves gulping down an uncontrolled amount of any drug and assuming you’re cured.
