pace some conversation with otso on lemmy, I’ve been thinking about what neo-retro-gaming can/should/could be, and this is a depressing thing to learn. I would have imagined that game boy games would be central to retro handhelds’ desired experience – but I guess I’m projecting from my childhood desires.
At the same time, this is my first time hearing about the retroid pocket 2 and it’s Very Cool looking. ETland xoxo on YouTube did a thing with a GB Studio game on it and… it’s… very cute and I like it a lot???
there are screens you can add to game boys/game boy advances that are the correct scale. also I think it’s kind of cool to mod gameboys with new screens and get a rom cart and you can play those roms on original hardware with the better screens
