From the article:
“How do I say it?” Pichai began his measured response. “Look, I hope all of you are reading the news, externally. The fact that you know, we are being a bit more responsible through one of the toughest macroeconomic conditions underway in the past decade, I think it’s important that as a company, we pull together to get through moments like this.”
Basically they are gonna downsize despite sitting on a mountain of cash. Apparently this is because of the macroeconomic climate and slow growth. Could just be an excuse but it seems believable there is some truth as well.
I don’t know if I’m just more aware of this stuff now or what, but Google’s products have declined significantly in recent years.
Gmail used to be great. I can’t even find old emails now. Even their search engine is trash now.
I’ve used the Sputnik browser and Yandex search engine with good results.

I use Brave for the time being.
DuckDuckGo pissed a lot of people off after the Ukraine situation because they said they would moderate content for ‘Russian disinformation’. Just beware that they can’t be trusted.

I feel guilt when I still use Google but I use ad block. It’s still a product or theirs this is useful enough to my life that I couldn’t replace without putting some effort into configuring SearX… so I don’t like them having that power.
You could use https://startpage.com if you just want the Google search engine through a proxy, without (according to Startpage, at least) being tracked by Google
Thnx for this. Works perfetly on brave.
