It’s not really about you personally, but the trauma Central Asia suffered under Russian colonization. I think it’s best not to imply (even unwittingly) that Russian is more valuable than Kazakh or another CA language. I hope you will join me in standing against Russian colonialism and influence in Central Asia.

How about standing against British-American colonialism too, while you are at it. You know, tragedy of colonies that forgot their past under pressure, or are abandoning their present for sweet dream about other’s culture and foreign version of the preferred future. About general globalization tendencies.

Or complaining about excessive growth of Turkish influence now, they almost openly declare their aim to make second Osman empire.

It sounds fishy when someone is promoting bias only towards specific side in globalization game - game that started with cultural and economical influence of bigger neighbors - In this case, Russia, Osman, Persia and ended with countries that try to promote or enforce their culture, rights and wrongs to everyone on the globe that worth exerting influence on - which is British Empire in the past, and US in modern world.

As for citizens of Kazakhstan, regardless of citizen’s nationality, they all have their own culture and language that is and was fully represented in mandatory education and governmental affairs at the very least. Furthermore, their elites are playing strong nationalistic cards even when there is a risk of dividing their society to the point of riots and xenophobic tendencies getting out of hand. And current Russia is pretty much fine with this state of affairs. Asking for more than that is asking for radicals from pro- and contra- Russian sides to appear and spoil the fun of peaceful life for the rest. Which already happened not so long ago in this particular country.

I wouldn’t worry about nonexistent ‘colonialism’ during the time when globalization takes over cultures and leaders try to get in power by fanning fires of nationalism.

As for my personal opinion, natural globalization is fine. If a part of foreign culture doesn’t fit locals, it will be rejected. If local culture cant keep up with times, it will be dissolved. If culture is strong, it would assimilate foreign influence and become richer. Evil starts when some country tries to directly or indirectly dictate to someone else how they should live, what media content is cool and which opinion is bad. And “bad” country there currently is most definitely not the one that ‘created CA trauma’.

I don’t say that English is a superior language than other languages, let alone native languages of places that English speakers have colonized. Nobody else should make such implications either.

Kazakhstan is literally a Turkic nation, which has nothing to do with Turkey or the Ottoman empire, but rather it is literally themselves. Russian colonial propaganda in Central Asian countries often uses this ploy that you just used, that the Central Asians’ own culture is “foreign” and a threat.

Aside from the general whataboutism in your post, you also claimed that Russian colonization of Central Asia, which was violent and brutal, is “natural globalization”. Sorry, but there’s nothing natural about it. Even today if Kazakhstan were to try to get out from under Russia’s thumb, Russia would break them. So even now they live under threat.

You claim that Kazakhstan’s dysfunctional Soviet legacy is “fun and peaceful”. Sure… so wonderful.

You assumed a stranger is a chauvinist based on a joke in a video. You assumed a stranger doesn’t know better than to be misled by propoganda. Reminds me of many things comrades shared about certain groups and their condescending ways. Now you are trying to turn it around and pretend you are doing it with good intentions towards MY people. I am not joining YOU, you should learn before speaking disrespectfully to strangers on a public platform.

There’s a lot that can be said here, but for all your talk the fact remains that you mocked Kazakh and implied that Russian is a superior language.

Prove it then, if you are so certain. What did I say? How did you know I “mocked and implied that Russian is a superior language”?

I mean, obviously this is not a good faith argument, and you are at least right now showing a lack the sensitivity to consider how others might feel. I thought your video was good overall, so like I said before try not to take it personally. If I did you a criticism that is my personal view and also my Marxist duty.

Yes the video was interesting and entertaining. I encourage you to keep making videos.

If you go around accusing people baselessly, without considering how it might make them feel, expect reactions. You don’t know anything about my history of trauma, my experiences with languages and cultures of my land; why I chose to poke fun at MYSELF for not speaking the language (I understand it might not be clear to everyone); yet you make highly offensive assumptions and insist you are right without backing up your claims.
