That doesn’t mean all software written in rust is MIT licensed automatically. I don’t see why the kernel couldn’t continue to be GPLv2 even with a lot of rust code in it.
Rust could change their license to a proprietary one banning the use of the GPL license in projects programmed with rust.
I find that extremely unlikely, especially seeing as if they do that, the community is essentially guaranteed to keep it going with an open source license.
