Welcome again to everybody! Make yourself at home <3 In the time honoured tradition of our group, here is our weekly discussion thread!

Subreddit archive is available here: https://tankies.la/archive and is updated through yesterday, however it is still heavily under construction and you should expect continued disruptions/changes in usability of the page over the coming weeks. Be warned, it’s like marxists.org level of web design as I’m only interested in it working, not its appearance rn.

Cheers

I revived a plant that suddenly started dying this weekend. I threw a load of coffee rests over it and the fucker is now stronger than ever.

Also, a copy of Blackshirts and Reds just fell on my doorstep. I´m looking forward to reading it.

Coffee revives plants !? Also nice, it’s a very good book. Maybe lemmygrad should have a list with “must reads”?

Yeah apparently it contains nutritious substances like potassium, so if you have leftover coffee(grounds) you can use it on most of your indoor plants.

My gf’s mom has a big vegetable garden and she also uses it to keep snails away. They don’t like caffeine.

O shit thank you! Is it similar to using plant food? Better than repotting haha, semi unrelated but I remember seeing an article that birds are learning to use tobacco within their nests since it is a natural pesticide. Same kind of pragmatism.

Yes and no. I believe it’s not good for plants to only use coffee because it contains a lot of nitrogen as well. Plants with an acidic ground will do well with coffee though. But most of the plants I have in my house, which are common houseplants, do pretty well on coffee.

The intelligence of birds can be scary sometimes.
