I was notified that @tateisu@mastodon.juggler.jp's Mastodon app "Subway Tooter" has received a warning from the Google Play Store citing user-generated content that "incites discrimination". A Mastodon app does not host or promote any content. The user types the address to connect to. The responsibility of moderating resides with that server. So unless Google is going to drop Chrome, Firefox and Opera from its platform, this is completely out of line. Source in Japanese: https://mastodon.juggler.jp/@tateisu/104761652569820793

Don’t forget that F-Droid exists for Android users. I personally prefer it to the Play Store if the app is available on it, and some apps are only available on F-Droid.

    Oh wait, that’s right, people are inherently evil and if we start acting like it we all know that, we’ll stop being surprised by their depraved ability to ruin everything for money, and maybe, just maybe, get out in front of that inevitable evil and stop it.
