          To my understanding the government doesn’t openly discriminate against Tatars although I have little to zero knowledge on the subject (and even if they are not racist openly there should still be analysis of the laws of the Russian Federation to see whether they structurally discriminate)

          The wikipedia article mentioned a singular individual and unnamed institutions, although it wouldn’t surprise me if widespread negative sentiment against Tatars did exist(especially considering the stereotypes attributed to them). I am not claiming that it does not exist but that the article doesn’t definitely state any widespread sentiment. unfortunately I couldn’t read the two sources in the “in modern times” as I can’t read russian. although they seemingly were just referencing the actions of the soviet union and not Russia as of today(by soviet union the probably mean Russia anyways as it would be the republics that create autonomous areas and not the union as a whole)
