I like having as many private repos as I’d like, its’s a small plus that microsoft can’t scrape my code for their silly AI products

Simply because it’s owned by Microsoft.
GitHub is owned by Microsoft. Microsoft collects a lot of data.
It bans projects, developers, trains AI on this code.
It isn’t. They shut down the unwanted repositories due to DMCA violation. This is a recently reported example. There were many others before.
After Microsoft acquired the GitHub, it’s better to publish copies of repositories there, not the main ones.
