I am assuming you already thought about a fan in a window so I won’t mention that. For smoke, you can strap a good filter to a box fan to make a cheap air filter. We do this when we can’t even open windows because of wildfire smoke. I don’t have a good solution to humidity. The landlord should care about getting an exhaust fan in the bathroom to protect their own interests.
Yep, good filters aren’t cheap and cheap filters won’t do you any good, but they will last you forever if you are only using it once in a while. And a filter strapped to a fan is way cheaper than a built to purpose air filter. And the fan still works as a fan when you take the filter off.
