A mod that invisions an alternate timeline where minecraft never had the gamechanging beta 1.8 update

Microblock mods are underrated and underutilized.
Forge Microblocks (or [Forge Multipart](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/forge-multi-part)), and in later versions, [Chisel and Bits](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/chisels-bits) are very useful mods for resource efficiency; they reduce the amount of air filled. Unfortunately I don't see many posts that highlight this usage. A commonly cited example is glowstone nooks; microblocks' glowstone still produces light, so cutting glowstone into nooks increases the amount of effective glowstone for the same light that glowstone produces. (A bonus specific to environmine is that glowstone does not produce heat like torches.) ![A view of a wall of microblocks.](https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/b808f818-a324-4913-ba04-7d43be001a7f.png) ![](https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/3c8e6009-5352-46c1-8b34-172a05aafd08.png) In my [Crash Landing](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/crash-landing) world, I used Forge Microblocks to prevent tiny and giant spiders from climbing over the base wall. I used *way* less cobblestone than if I used *only* the cobblestone block In my cactus farm; I used Microblocks to compactly automate the breaking of cactus. ![Cacti with cobblestone strips surrounding the air blocks above cacti.](https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/4b26334b-427a-4d7d-8273-8566ba4b1ab4.png) --- I love microblock mods.

CurseForge replaced legacy API (without any forewarning) with a blackboxed API that requires keys.
So that's why [MultiMC removed CurseForge support](https://github.com/MultiMC/Launcher/commit/0a827ba70e6ef20187f8507a536d54a8441020dc) (in commit `0a827ba70e6ef20187f8507a536d54a8441020dc`). (The commiter couldn't even bother to *include* the full explanation in the merge commit. This is why I hate GitHub.) So scummy of CurseForge. They're also trying to insert ads.^[["As we supported Linux, we tried to technically look on how ad monetization would look like on Mac & Linux (something that we didn't yet have the bandwidth to do).", *Old API deprecation, Linux and Standalone client FAQ*](https://support.curseforge.com/en/support/solutions/articles/9000215005-old-api-deprecation-linux-and-standalone-client-faq)]

Java Edition is moving house
Ah man. Looks like I can't play multiplayer anymore. /s

What modpacks do you play?

Can you imagine a Minecraft server spread around the globe? Well, that's us.

Randomly found a stronghold while caving
I was doing some caving after 1.17 came out. How rare is it to just find one without an eye of ender? I was kind of surprised

Just added some custom crafts for decoration heads on my smp server (´ ∀ ` *) ( [here](https://minecraft-heads.com/custom-heads/plants/8756-piranha-plant)'s the link for the plant's head )

Downfall of Minecraft
Anybody else feel that minecraft slipped after Microsoft bought it. Before microsoft, every update felt like it added something of content, but now every update feels like its just added to make the game look better. Take the caves and cliffs update: those giant caves may look cool, but whats the fucking point? The mining experience is not really "supposed" to be this open. There was nothing wrong with the old caves, and now the new caves are not the same. I miss the pre 1.8 days of adding brand new mechanics like restone.
