Yep! And unlike Signal, the desktop experience isn’t shit.

Feels like this happens all the time too.
Sure there’s the website. Wefwef, the first app in this list is also just a PWA, which is pretty much just a website.
The original developer left the project and handed it off to somebody else. I reckon you’re still on the old beta which doesn’t get updated anymore and got pulled off of Testflight.
Personally I really like that lemmy is becoming more active and there’s more activity on mainstream topics outside the tech bubble right now.
What I don’t like is my instance becoming overwhelmed.
Yep that sucks - is what I say as a lemmy.ml user. Then again, I registered two years ago on this instance and I don’t feel like switching it just because there’s an influx of redditfugees.
Which apps don’t support it? Webp is working pretty well for me. MacOS has been supporting it natively for a while and so do the Affinity apps. I haven’t had issues with webp in years.
Edit: I’m on Windows now and support is decent too…?
Adobe has gotten so fucking lazy since they switched to a subscription model. Their software is barely getting meaningful updates any more.
You’re missing the best one: https://wefwef.app
That will probably get you banned for spam. But also - who cares at this point?
Most third party apps are shutting down, unfortunately. The official app is pretty bad but what did it for me is how Reddit handled the whole situation. That’s worse than the API change itself. Reddit has in general gotten worse over time, so this is just the last straw.
I wanted to be more active on lemmy for while but when I joined 2 years ago, the community wasn’t very active outside of some Linux bubbles, so I didn’t stay initially. Now it’s a much better situation and I don’t see myself going back.
Yeah it’s amazing that some people don’t realise how much the first iPhone changed. Smartphones were absolute garbage before it. Sure, my Windows Molbile phone had more features on paper but it was heavy af and the interface was terrible, buggy and cumbersome to use. The iPhone made that all easier and introduced UI patterns that are still being used in almost every product with a touch screen to this date.
Really? For me it’s the opposite effect. You usually don’t get crazy amounts of engagement like on reddit where a post can have hundreds of upvotes and comments but on average, I feel like I’m getting more engagement and more valuable engagement.
I think I figured it out. The stuff that’s „coming back“ is not in the Power Delete Suite backup. It’s just posts and comments in subs that were restricted that go back online.
That’s not it. The account was 100% empty and the stuff that’s now back, I can delete again. That said - it might absolutely be some server caching issue on reddit’s side. It’s definitely fishy though.
Holy fucking shit. I just checked. All my deleted comments and posts are back.
I’m based in Germany and I’m pretty sure this is a GDPR violation.
Edit: Not all is back but some older comments are. I previously checked and my account was definitely empty before.
If it was just looks. Usually the UX is simply not very good. We need more designers in the FOSS space.
