    It’s not just about privacy. It’s about ownership and dependency also. It blows my mind that anyone who ended up on the fediverse would even consider having anything to do with these big corporate vampires. Meta is not opening itself up with federated protocols for the (net) benefit of end users. You can be absolutely sure they have a plan that ends up with anything they touch becoming shittier. If we truly want to build alternative models of social networking, we cannot naively welcome the proven bad actors to our table.
