      I think they may be preparing for the possibility of ending their expensive support for the Elensky regime. On the other topics, we will have to wait and see what is actually contained in these documents scattered across the NSA controlled internet. A bizarre Easter Egg hunt.

      Alternately, many lib commentators have written that leaks are an important part of a functional democracy and this could be part of maintaining that facade.

        I very much expect that they’re going to wind support for the war down as the election season starts. Polls show that there’s little public support for it, and dems have to wrap it up if they have any hope of winning. It could be that the leaks are meant to help shape opinion in that direction.

        However, the second drop of the leaks contains lots of material that doesn’t have anything to do with the war. It talks about US position on Middle East and Asia, and discloses more use spying on its vassals. That leak seems to be damaging to US and has no political value for the west.
