It seems someone has created a /c/trotskyists community. I believe this community should be removed for what I think are obvious reasons.

I think so too. Thank you for making this post, comrade. Let’s wait for the opinion of others before we act on it, but it should be very evident the outcome of this.

I think we should delete it. The creator of the community is inactive. I don’t understand why some people squat community names like this.

We should also, hopefully, allow members of that community an opportunity to advocate for it. In light of that, I propose that the site admins place a temporary ban on ice picks.

Just delete it. If Lemmygrad were sincerely interested in learning from Trotskyists then maybe it would be worth keeping, but it’s only a pile of shitposts and I almost feel sorry for the subcommunity’s (very negligent) creator. We already have one of these subcommunities anyway.

  • I’m on the fence. On the one hand, deeply committed Trots are wreckers and ultimately reactionary, but I was brought into Marxism by well-intentioned but poorly informed Trots: there is hope for some of them. Maybe we leave it there but make it more of a community to try to pull online Trots out of their ideological dead end. I don’t know what that process would be, maybe forcing them to allow historically accurate content to contrast their claims.

    • That’s an interesting idea.

You know I see people posting WSWS all the time and they manage to catch a lot of people who don’t notice them like, denouncing the party doing a strike they’re covering positively as “deceiving the workers” in the article they shared, don’t know about their anti-“cancel culture” shit where they root for Harvey Weinstein and shit.

/c/Trotskyism could just become a repository of deranged and COINTELPRO trot behavior, history, etcetera.

Just fill it with all the arguments against Trotsky, his crimes, etc. Use it to show everyone what a piece of shit he was.

  • A user not doing anything with their account for 2 months and then creating a trotskyism community (of all things) out of nowhere is unusual.

I’ll give them a couple days to see this and reply but it’s also unusual that they’re not saying anything. They could be busy of course and still, they’re allowed to defend themselves and their community.

idk drowning it in memes and shitposts until the administration shuts it down feels like the easy road. That’s no slight: it’s entertaining reading that community currently and I’ve participated in the snark elsewhere in this thread.

Just feels wasteful and there might be opportunity in the non-obvious courses of action, so maybe more dicussion about what those alternatives might be before we put the whole thing on ice.

  • I was made aware there is already a trotsky ism community, which makes trotsky ists redundant (as they named it Trotskyism in plain text). Seeing also that the creator of that community is completely inactive and has never interacted on Lemmygrad apart from creating that community, I will give them the rest of Monday to reply and if they don’t, I’ll delete the community.
