i wonder if they will kill off third party apps at some point, and what will happen if they will 🤔
I wonder how long non-official apps will be free to access the API gratis, as they do now, seeign as the monitization drive is high. Re linking to the original article, my focus was on the comments folks on HN made regarding this specific issue. Thank you for linking to the article.
I’m here because of that post! I thought Lenny wasn’t ready for prime-time use yet, but I was happy to find out how good and snappy it is. Especially on mobile, Lemmy is such a pleasure, especially compared to Reddit which has become slower and less friendly.
It seems that this was just in time, as I understand Lemmy just got federation.
welcome to Lemmy! Look around and participate in shaping how the communities evolve. Frontend is decoupled from the backend so you can create whatever frontend works for you while losing nothing from the wider federated community.
Am I the only one who hates when someone links to a link that links to another link? People are so lazy.
Anyway, I mostly agree with the article. But this:
The ads look extremely similar to regular threads
This is how ads should look like. They don’t “break” the site, they don’t look like an intruder, they’re perfectly embeded within the web’s design.
As noted, the share was for the comments on HN as a great way of listening to what people consider as Reddit’s pain points.
