I can only wish it becomes real, libre open hardware, not just for mobile but for desktops and laptops, that is powerful and power efficient enough. It needs to happen.

In short it could be an issue, but with so much work already being done to supplant the existing manufacturers firmware there is a pretty good chance that this will become a non-issue in the near future.
