So, in 2013 I had a chance of being both, witness and participant of some unplanned small scale social experiment. Let's backtrack a little bit. Around 2010 diaspora has appeared. From my limited perspective a bunch of nerds were unhappy about changes happening on Facebook. They gladly welcomed an alternative. Some left Facebook, some had accounts in both ecosystems. Slowly but steady, considering amount of people I've interacted on diaspora, community has been growing up. Till fatal day in June 2011. Google has launched Google+ service. Google hasn't had so bad reputation among us back then. So, people stormed to G+. My personal opinion is they've killed diaspora growth back then. Is that true? I have no idea. I'd be glad to see some research, some survey about that. In 2019, three years ago, Google has closed Plus. People has dispersed. Some of them returned to Facebook. Some of them went to telegram. Some of them quickly developed their own service (I know one case, no idea if the service still exists) like we did for fallen blip. October 2022. Another micro blogging service has changed the ownership. The new owner is apparently struggling with both: the purchase and the power he has gained. And now we all participate and witness a large scale social experiment. There is about 250 millions users ...
