This dude has a compulsion. He barely managed to survive the last scandal, and his takeaway was “Great, back to business!”

Libs when talking about Trump: He just doesn’t respect the rule of lawsmuglord

Libs when talking about corrupt Dems: We need every single seat we can get and maintain no matter how unsavory that person might beangery

Not gonna stop libs on reddit from preemptively own goaling and saying if they didn’t know he’d be replaced by a Democrat they wouldn’t support his resignation.

And then patting themselves in the back for being the pragmatic adults in the room.

Step one: You must vote for Jackass McDipshit or Hitler will come back from the dead.

Step two: You didn’t support Jackass McDipshit enough and now the Republicans will win.

Step three: We did zero campaigning and the Republican candidate won. This must be the millennial’s fault.

Pretty much no one thinks of themselves as corrupt. I am very curious about what kind of excuses he was making to himself. H was for sure thinking to himself “This is actually fine because…” and then something that I cannot quite grasp.

He’s a vile DC asshole. He already was indicted for bribery but he got off. I think people like him feel entitled. They think to themselves - I’m an important person in DC so why don’t have tens of millions of dollars? Despite being in trouble with the law - he still made no plans to cover his tracks. He kept $500,000 worth of gold and cash at his house in fucking closets.

I don’t want to give off the impression that I doubt that he is corrupt. Rather, this is so blatantly over-the-top corrupt that I’m just morbidly curious about what kind of twisted narrative he has in his head to make him the hero of his own story. You’re right that entitlement is for sure it, but that is a summation. I’m wondering if he ever in his head put his actions into words and what those words might have been. It’s a pretty useless question that I will never get the answer to unless his legal defense does something absolutely hilarious.

          what kind of twisted narrative

I don’t see people like him that way. I see them as devoid of ethics and morality. They’re just takers. I think the majority of powerful people in DC are that way. They’re just more canny and clever so they don’t hoard cash and gold bars in their closets.

There are plenty of unrepentant psychopaths who do not bother to delude themselves in this way.

https://twitter.com/QuiverCongress has been collecting receipts on instances of insider trading that are done much more “legally” than this caricatured instance of a man literally running around with a suit stuffed full of bars of precious metals. I’m guessing a slap on the wrist at best, or he’ll be used as a scapegoat for “going too far” (Madoff style) and business as usual (investment portfolio conflict of interest) will continue uninterrupted

I think everything will happen behind the scenes but - call me crazy - he’ll be pushed out of congress within a few months. A greater longshot is before New Year’s. I think they’ll put greater and greater pressure on him to resign. I know I’m in the minority here but I don’t say this just to be a contrarian. Biden’s polling numbers are shit and right now the dem brand is reliant on them not being seen as corrupt and as criminals. And Menendez is both of those things. Also his criminality is blatant, easy to understand, and cartoony. They’re surely spooked about Biden losing next year and dragging the party down with him.

Having said that - the dems are loathe to do that because of decorum and obedience to the process. Also - and of course - they incompetent and dumb as fucking rocks.

Not with Dems barely having the Senate, no way he’s booted. They’ll take the heat and weather it, that’s what liberals do. Say the right words, shuffle their feet, and wait for the next distraction before continuing to not do anything.

We know what Republicans stand for; themselves and the interests of who pays them. By the looks of it, a lot of money comes in from Russia and China (thanks Citizens United, no one def saw that coming …except the military. The generals said it would endanger national security since day one).

They absolutely do not have the best interests of yr average American in mind. Dems only know what Americans want from polling, and they’ll promise then never deliver. As it always goes.

One side wants a tragedy to shock doctrine the constitution. So we’re left with choice R,= burn it all down at once, and choice D= the exact same thing just incrementally.

        Civil war here we come.
