What she’s reporting are actual facts of what’s been happening in Donbas, the fact that you’re able to simply dismiss that as pro-Putin propaganda shows just how effective your state propaganda is. You’re a living example of just how effective your state media is at brainwashing people. Anybody, like Richard, who provides are different point of view can be immediately dismissed.
Odds are, however, that she’s lying and spreading pro-Russian propaganda instead.
Did your state media tell you that?
That sort of a statement is not a valid argument for anything, and you use it all the time. I could just as well call you brainwashed and saying that would accomplish just as much: nothing.
The fact that you discard anything that contradicts the official narrative of your state media without any further investigation is a clear sign of brainwashing.
“Consider the source” is a perfectly valid technique to use when trying to figure out which things to trust and which not. It’s one of the most important skills of an internet citizen.
You should consider the motives and financing behind the state media sources you’re consuming. The fact that you only apply this logic towards media that contradicts your state narrative shows lack of critical thinking on your part.
I suspect we’re just more acutely aware of it because we have access to much more information around the world. I wouldn’t expect that our behaviors have changed fundamentally.
Did my state media tell me what? That Russia lies a lot? That’s not something I need the media to know.
You actually do need state media to know this, because this is where the idea that Russia lies more than your own state came from.
Sure I should. But disregarding a fringe single-viewpoint youtube channel based on the monotony of its content is not a sign of lack of critical thinking. Posting content from such a thing is.
The point here isn’t with whether you agree with her reporting or not. The point is that she is being prosecuted by your “democratic” state for contradicting the state narrative. And anybody with a modicum of critical thinking ability would see why that’s a problem.
Can you tell me which totally impartial holy source of ultimate truth are you using to gain knowledge? This would be most useful.
Where did I make any claims regarding some impartial holy source of ultimate truth? My whole point is precisely that every source is biased and that’s what makes it so important to see information from different angles. When you’re only allowed to see state narrative, then you’re being brainwashed. You’re so very close to understanding this!
As for Russia’s lying, I’m relying more on history than media to know that.
Anybody who knows actual history knows full well that the west lies with the best of them. Iraq being a perfect recent example. West has told lies that killed countless millions.
As for your partiality and skills in critical thinking: have you ever posted anything even vaguely pro-west in this site, or are you just propagating every anti-west shill thing you can find?
Why would I post anything positive about a sick system that’s tearing itself apart. Capitalism is a disease that’s destroying humanity and the biosphere on this planet. The sooner this system collapses the better off the world will be.

This whole thread/website
humanity in general? :)
Pretty much, especially this century
I suspect we’re just more acutely aware of it because we have access to much more information around the world. I wouldn’t expect that our behaviors have changed fundamentally.
