Of course one of the propaganda sites about Holodomor is a .ca domain, based in Ontario. Seems about right for Canada.
Also, what a reliable primary source! Canadians talking about Soviet Ukraine!
Canada has a very strong kulak disapora community. World Socialist Web Site did a deep dive on Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland and her family and professional connections to them. Canadians are also a big part of the Victims of Communism Foundation.
I’m not familiar with all the sources listed but I read debunking of Applebaum’s book. Just like all the other biggest hits of anti-communist bullshit, the cited sources themselves refute the arguments being made.
Yes a very large Ukrainian diaspora in Canada 1.4million in total and western Canada is 8.4% made up of these people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainian_Canadians
It is essentially getting information about Ukraine from some of the richest people of Ukraine that could afford to move somewhere nicer. It’s identical to getting your information about Cuba from Gusanos.
Just never ask them which side their grandpa fought for during WW2.
Worse than Kulaks, Banderaists.
‘‘How Stalin saved Ukraine’’
fixed title
The Soviet response to the famine is actually a really interesting topic. I’ve fascinated people with examples of famine relief, and Pavel Luk’ianenko is an especially interesting historical figure. The class war involving the rural petite‐bourgeoisie sounds like it was pretty intense, too. It’s a shame that teaching this history is so stigmatized in the West.
How Stalin made Ukraine into a industrial powerhouse
How Stalin dealt with Ukraine’s Nazi problem
You seem lost. That’s the subject of this video, not the one that the OP shared.
Ugh, honestly, I don’t feel up to sitting through this. I have a feeling that it’s another angsty, unpleasant anticommunist video that spews the same establishment talking points that we’ve already heard a thousand times and doesn’t even attempt to address any evidence that complicates its claims. I’m slacking off, and I admit it.
