yeah, the digital yuan
One time, to humor a friend who was super into cryptocurrency and that I was slowly radicalizing, I created this concept of a mutualist (read: Proudhonian nonsense) token that was structured around the thankless volunteer economy online that has existed for years. It was meant to provide a reward mechanism for said labor that could be spent on various services within the communities, supported by those in a position to do so (read: probably the site owners or more well-off users) and ultimately benefit the community. Never meant for it to actually go anywhere, it was just a concept to try and demonstrate a new line of thought using an object of interest for this guy. Dude thought it was cool as hell then proceeded to critique it to no end after realizing it didn’t conform to liberal economics.
I’m aware this probably doesn’t answer your question, but it reminded me of this little story where the question was attempted in a slightly different manner. Obligatory note that I think cryptocurrency is a joke but I’m not going to judge or debate it.
Pretty sure this is what the test of the digital yuan have been doing
