They already banned the export of sand to Taiwan. Which might sound mild, but consider that Taiwanese electronics industry relies largely on cheap Chinese sand to produce silicon wafers and other electronic components, as well as cement. And Taiwan’s economy is basically based on producing electronics, building construction, tourism and US aid. 3 of the 4 are now blocked by China basically.
I presume there’s going to be an invasion too, unless the US makes some pretty serious concessions to de-escalate. Now would be the time for China to demand lifting of Trump/Biden tariffs and restrictions.
Do we think there will be any economic warfare coming from China’s end after this? I can’t imagine they do nothing, that would make them look weak.
