As total newcomer, what would you suggest as first steps with Tor? No mission critical application.

    if you are on linux you can search for torbrowser-launcher. it’s a good way to start using tor.

    Hey all! I started with command line torsocks (here) and wish to change appearance of the prompt. For the moment being, I added an if-statement to my .bashrc checking whether LD_PRELOAD is unset, but I found that solution peculiar to my case. Any more general solution?

    I did not like that the Tor browser is not accessible via the start menu (in my case: xfce4-popup-whiskermenu). Therefore I installed the application with the following:
    sudo desktop-file-install /usr/share/applications/start-tor-browser.desktop
    but I received the warnings as follow:
