I’m kind of weird with that. I really don’t like turn-based RPGs either, but traditional roguelikes are 100% my jam, even though they’re almost the same genre.
Like, take a turn-based RPG, put it on a tile-grid, add random map generation and make it super-hard, and you’ve basically got a traditional roguelike.
My best guess is that the clear rules enforced by the tile grid + the need to actually play near-error-free makes roguelikes feel more like a puzzle game, which are definitely my jam, too.
