Ninjutsu OS, a new software tool that heavily modifies Windows 10 with a huge number of tweaks, mods and extra tools, has been hit with a DMCA complaint by Microsoft. According to the copyright notice, the customizing, tweaking and disabling of Windows 10 features, even when that improves privacy, amounts to a violation of Microsoft’s software license: https://torrentfreak.com/removing-annoying-windows-10-features-is-a-dmca-violation-microsoft-says-200611/
Imagine buying a car and not be allowed to customize it. No new mags or lights… it feel like when you pay Microsoft you dont actuallt buy there product but you “rent” the privilege to use a “service”. I’ll stick to pirated version then. Nice business model MS!

not to mention that car also keeps adding features that guzzle more gas, but you can’t get rid of them even though it would make the car run better and those “features” are generally bad.
or imagine if you could get 10% off the price of the car but the navigation system will pick routes that go by certain billboards
Cory Doctorow talks about how this might be justifiable if it is a self-driving car but that it will spread to all our devices. Locked bootloaders everywhere.
