He’s probably trying to divert attention away from him so that people will focus on Russia instead. It’s the classic “accuse the other side of that which you are guilty” tactic.
The trivialization of this word and the way it’s been weaponized over the past couple years is fucking disgusting.
You can’t determine genocide by mere numbers maybe, but just to put things into context, the UN - and even the Kyiv Independent reposts this every other day - estimates so far about 250 children died in 3 months since the invasion. Now, that’s 250 too many obviously. That’s still a fraction of the children that have died in Afghanistan alone just from sanctions this year. It’s a tiny fraction compared to the half a million dead children in Iraq over a couple years in the 90s, again just from sanctions. I could go on and on. Heck they murdered over a thousand civilians a year im Donbas over the past 8 years.
I’ve noticed many words being rapidly rendered meaningless in recent years. None as serious as genocide though.
