Thank you Snopes. I’m so tired of explaining the difference between a picture and a video.

Unfortunately, this whole thing worked exactly as intended. The overwhelming majority of US citizens were discussing if Musk was a Nazi while Trump signed a massive list of executive orders under the cover of media noise.

the fortunate thing is that for a few people it was a wake up call. they focused on the executive orders in ways they wouldn’t have before because the action was so shocking and appalling. just… you know. not enough. but it’s not nothing

I don’t get what you mean. The executive orders are very much in the news. I’ve seen it on every major news station. Not like it really matters because trumpers are going to trump and many others don’t care either way.

snipes had to do it, but nobody actually believes they were doing the same thing. internet trolls have metastasized and are nazis… it’s the good old, “playing dumb” routine, and trying to split hairs, disingenuously, instead of getting to the subject of anything… the goal is to frustrate you and sap your energy until you give up and they get away with it.
while people are arguing whether or not the most blatant nazi salute ever was actually a nazi salute, nobody’s arguing about what to do about nazis taking over….
just filter out all talk of whether or not reality is real, and go with the facing reality type conventions

Let’s assume for just a second that it wasn’t intentional. It was, but let’s play pretend that he’s a giant moron instead of a Nazi.

That would mean that he’s a fully adult human in the information age that has somehow never seen any ww2 movies, TV shows, or documentaries. That he’s never seen modern Nazis in the news having done the exact same gesture and movement.

Or, that his memory is so horrible that he forgot all of that.

Or that he did see that stuff and still thought it was a good idea to use it anyway.

Absolutely none of that excuses him from being an absolute shit stain of an excuse for a human being and throwing a perfect replica of a nazi salute. It might make him not an actual nazi, but it would still make him deserving of contempt and disdain. Hell, it would make him deserving of contempt and disdain from the nazis too.

The only time non nazis use that salute after ww2 is either as historical performance, mocking someone that’s acting like a nazi, or mocking nazis. There’s absolutely zero good reason to do it other than that, and mocking someone that isn’t a nazi isn’t exactly a good reason, it’s just that it’s generally dismissable.

So, musky, what is it? Are you a nazi or a moron? I suspect it’s both.

I was in the shower the other day trying to do similar moves that would come close to being a nazi salute but not actually be one, like, waving, saying thank you, pointing with my whole hand.

It felt very unnatural and awkward and basically impossible to do something accidentally close to a nazi salute while trying to do something else

Yeah, it’s not a natural combination of gestures. It takes changes in direction that you just don’t do in combination for anything else but salutes.

Since the default salute is to bring the hand to the head before extending the arm, and the arm isn’t held out for that, it doesn’t even match the common US salute you might give. Normally, if you’re saluting someone here, you either snap the hand to and away from the head, or you hold the salute at the head until the situation calling for the salute is over.

Even that, you aren’t going to be practicing enough to make it an automatic response unless you’ve spent time on jobs where saluting is common.

Soooo, where has musky been that he’s firing off that gesture often enough to make it in that situation? Why hasn’t he been making it for years, if it was just something he does? Makes it read a lot more like someone finally feeling free to do something they’ve had to suppress.

It’s only obvious to Nazis and anti-Nazis (aka antifa) that Musk was making a Nazi salute. Those who are skeptical that it was a Nazi salute probably don’t realize that taking that position is to be sympathetic to Nazis and exactly what Nazis want.

I’m pretty sure everyone knows. Supporters are just gaslighting trying to make him more palatable to people who might not like Nazis.

There is one incredibly simple way to show that it was meant as a Nazi salute: he still hasn’t denied it.

He knows Nazis saw it as a Nazi salute. If I ever made a gesture that was remotely recognized by Nazis as such, I’d immediately deny and denounce any Nazi connections. He still hasn’t.

      Claim:

A series of photographs authentically shows politicians Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Barack Obama and Elizabeth Warren performing a Nazi salute. Rating: False

      Context

These still images were taken out of context from speeches in which each politician was making an unrelated gesture, including waving or raising their hand to make a point. Their language, demeanor and the wider context of the video shows the gestures cannot be interpreted as Nazi salutes.

I’m starting to think most of the commenters here didn’t bother clicking the link

That the Nazi salute defenders are having to use pics over videos to try and defend their Nazi idol shows they know it is a Nazi salute.

Definitely on the side of snopes here, but don’t forget snopes was the target of a hostile takeover, 2022 they are now owned by an advert company “Proper Media”

Snopes is not what it used to be, but that doesn’t mean this article is false
