It’s a way chronically ill people talk about energy.

Our bodies tend not to be as resilient as healthy people. So if we do too much (ie. use too many spoons), instead of recovering after a day or two like healthy people would if they did too much, we tend to have our health worsen for long periods.

So the analogy is you have a limited number of “spoons” (energy) each day, and you have to use it wisely.

Obviously, this doesn’t impact every disability and is mostly used by chronically ill people and people with energy limiting conditions.

  • Thought this passage was especially well written

These mislabellings are harmful, not because there is anything shameful about the possibility that someone could be living with a psychological condition. Rather, what is shameful is that women and other people of marginalized gender identities are still treated as unreliable reporters on our own bodies. It is harmful because this gendered misdiagnosis obstructs access to necessary medical care, disincentivizes biomedical research on certain diseases, and even prevents us from seeking support for comorbid mental health symptoms out of concern that doing so could further damage our credibility.

  • The court’s decision follows dramatic revelations of alleged foreign influence on the contest. Earlier this week, the Romanian government declassified intelligence files that strongly suggested to a Russian-backed campaign to corrupt the election.

The documents said 25,000 pro-Georgescu accounts on social media app TikTok burst into action just two weeks before the first-round vote.

Yep I think the move is harsh. But this is literally happening in every other democracy and they are just pretending it isn’t. Kudos to romania for tackling the issue head-on.
