Summary
Iranian pop star Amir Hossein Maghsoudloo, known as Tataloo, has been sentenced to death for blasphemy after the supreme court overturned a prior five-year prison sentence.
Tataloo, who had been living in Istanbul since 2018, was extradited to Iran in 2023 and has since been detained.
He also faces charges of promoting “prostitution” and spreading “propaganda” against the Islamic Republic.
The verdict is not final and can still be appealed.
Once a figure courted by conservatives, Tataloo gained fame for his controversial music and tattoos.
“blasphemy”
Holy hell. How anyone defends these overly religious, dirt ball countries boggles my mind. Overzealous religion rules with an iron fist.
In Poland, you can be arrested and charged with “offending religious feelings”
America is far from perfect, but I can pretty much say whatever I want, with few exceptions, and not be subjected to legal consequences.
Don’t worry, thats gonna change with project 2025. Iran was a pretty progressive country before a bunch of zealots taken the power.
Sorry, my dude. Take your project 2025 boogie man stuff down the road. Call me when something actually happens.
Action > talk
Another Iranian rapper, Toomaj, was given a death sentence in 2024 that was overturned. I think he is still in jail though.

Hopefully they both can see freedom soon.

We should kill the transgressor to preserve honor.

I misread that as “Italian” and it felt a bit weird.
Thought it was someone who snaps their spaghetti before cooking it.
Sir, reddit is over here.
Make them shorter and no snapping needed.
Get a larger pan / have some patience and mix them.
It doesn’t really matter if 30 seconds one end is in the water and the other isn’t while you’re gently bending them into the pot.
Or, get one of these.
(Yes yes, I should clean my kitchen.)
Drop them in and the shape makes them swirl and no mixing needed when it’s a roiling boil. I do often see that they separate well but after that, no need.
Use a longer pot
blasphemy is the ultimate victimless crime
Blasphemy!
see? you’re fine!
Your blasphemy turned me into a newt
no job, no bills, just newt; enjoy!
But you got better?
Jehovah Jehovah Jehovah!
That only works for beetlejuice…wait a minute, if you rearrange the letters in “beetlejuice” you get “Beltted Jettis!” Which, if you squint real hard is approximately Jehovah… Just swap the B for a J, the L for an h, obviously Tees look like O’s. You get the idea.
Conservatives had their feelings hurt, so death is an option.
Only a couple of powerful monied people will pretend there is a victim. And then there is, usually the blasphemer.
Like punching someone in the dark
Like punching an imaginary friend in the dark.
If God (or Allah if you prefer that name) is so angry about blasphemy, why does He risk letting fallible humans take care of the problem?
Simply cause the blasphemer to drop dead. Then the faithful can clean up the aftermath if they wish to appear faithful, because it is less important how that is handled.
Is this comment blasphemous? We’ll see if I drop dead.
Jehovah! Jehovah!
How can it be worse?!
They can’t because it’s not believers vs unbelievers, the clergy educated in biblical scholarship know their position is indefensible that’s why they enforce blasphemy laws and murder apostates. Because in the light of transparency, historical context, and evidence none of the religions of Abraham are reasonable to believe.
They know it’s made up, but they can’t stop because they’ve convinced themselves it’s for the greater good to defend the ‘noble lie’.
Or they are power hungry aholes, and/or working for power hungry aholes.
Are you still alive?
I think so. Maybe I’m now a delusional and surprisingly active corpse.
that would be awesome, assuming they’re all evil, but destroys the principle of faith
I’m pretty sure that the ruse, if there is one, must be impossible to prove
Turkey extradites to Iran? That seems like something that wouldn’t help join the EU.
Edit: I should specify that I’m being somewhat sarcastic. My comment is technically true but in fact this extradition policy is largely irrelevant to real-world diplomacy.
yeah I was surprised by that too, but I’m a dumb dumb, so 🤷
Pretty sure Turkey has given up on ever joining the EU years ago.
Iran is such a dogshit country. Russia too.
And special mention to Turkey for extraditing the artist to Iran over such bullshit.
Are you from that country that just voted in a convicted felon as their next president?
If they were, what would it change? They aren’t somehow personally resposible for it, and having a shitty government yourself doesn’t mean you can’t criticise other shitty governments.
Reverse whataboutism detected!
Citizens of dog shit countries are the most qualified to talk about others being dog shit.
Which country is not a dogshit country today?
I am not. Are you?
Nope. Pretty funny that you’re embarrassed enough to lie about it though lol

Caught in 4k lol
It’s like, crazy that people can lie like that on the internet like that. Can you imagine the shame? I can’t, because I don’t care.
Also, I live somewhere else that allows you to own guns u silly ass, USA is not the only country with gun ownership.
There are a number of places in the world that have legal systems that are totally controlled by the state. If you go to those places you are taking large chances as you don’t know how much you figure in that government’s agenda at that moment.
Every single functional nation is in control of the legal system. If they are not the state is failing or has failed.
All legal systems are controlled by the state. Uncontrolled systems are called vigilantism.
Categorise Xeer then, please.
In some the police and judiciary are extension on the executive government where in others they are the third branch and independent.
All branches of government are part of the state.
Not all countries have the courts as a branch of the government.
Sweden is an example of such a country where the judicial system is independent from the government.
I think the guy you answered was a bit clumsy in their wording of it as a “third branch”, I think they mean “third” as you would a “third party”.
