    Packages change. SO-DIMM held on a for a long time but if this is what it takes to keep pushing ever tighter timing thresholds then I’d prefer this over Dell also shifting to having the DRAM soldered onto the motherboard.

      This is how I see it. SO-DIMM is reaching a limit and something needs to change. Being able to buy a base memory laptop and upgrade it was great. Been looking at MacBooks (which solder the memory) and 8gb of Ram is like $200 when a stick of 8gb sodimm is $50.

    That connector is very interesting and the reasoning behind creating this is sound. Maybe this will end up being the standard for DDR6 whenever it happens. As long as humanity hasn’t destroyed itself first.

    The majority of laptops end up disposed of, not upgraded. Those who upgrade their PCs, especially laptops, are a minority. There is little reason to build consumer grade laptops around the ability to upgrade.
