“We stopped the transit of Russian gas. This is a historic event. Russia is losing its markets, it will suffer financial losses,” Ukraine’s Energy Minister German Galushchenko said in a statement.

Ukraine will lose up to $1 billion a year in transit fees from Russia. To help offset the impact, it will quadruple gas transmission tariffs for domestic consumers from Wednesday, which could cost the country’s industry more than 1.6 billion hryvnias ($38.2 million) a year.

Congratulations, you just punched yourself in confusion! Russian gas is gonna flood Asia, further reducing the cost of it for ASEAN countries and making their industry even more competitive while Europe is going to buy much more expensive gas from the US and the gulf monarchirs and further weakening their own industry 😂

It’s amazing how western media completely ignores this simple fact. European industry is in direct competition with Asia, and if input costs in Asia are lower because they’re able to get cheap energy from Russia, then it’s a direct competitive advantage over the EU. This is something that even a child should be able to understand.

Also take into account that the already expensive US alternative is going to get even more expensive with the increased demand, they have to do more fracking.

I wonder how the “environmentalists” in the imperial core are going to masquerade the inevitable upcoming increase in fracking.

How does a serious person that cares for the environment do not go full ted kazcynski after all these braindead blunders.

at this stage; the environmentalism feels like a smoke screen similar to the pink washing that was rampant at the beginning of the genocide to help garner support for isreal and used to scare us about project 2025 during the election.

Pretty much. It’s not that the environmental crisis isn’t real, but more that western regimes are doing greenwash instead of actually phasing out fossil fuel usage. If they actually cared they’d be doing what China is doing right now.

It’s probably more complicated than that. The key from US perspective is making sure they’re in control of the oil trade overall, and as long as oil is sold using the dollar they’re likely not too bothered.

Problem is, those European capitalists are happy enough to move the operations to Asia. Especially so if the costs are even lower now than before. Some will be pissed off but I think this is all showing that those ones don’t have much power. Indeed, ruining their businesses goes in favour of the ones who can move their factories. It’s pig eat pig. And pig eat ordinary person by they were always expendable unless they were organised.
